Hey Y’all
I am a writer, but I hate writing. I like reading about writing. I like talking about writing. But I don’t actually LIKE to write.
Except when I do.
It’s a C-O-M-P-L-I-C-A-T-E-D relationship.
I have an entire bookshelf (with SIX shelves!) that is dedicated to books about writing. Everything from author memoirs to Write Your Novel in a Month sit on that shelf, mostly unread.
I want to finish my first novel and have it ready for publication before I graduate next May. It’s a jumbled mess, but I love the characters and I think as I untangle their stories, other people (hopefully lots of people) will love them as much as I do.
I am pursuing a B.S. in English and Creative Writing. I have one year left, and then I don’t know what is next. I think I might go back to school for my MFA in Creative Writing and continue my career in avoiding ACTUALLY writing. (For at least 2 more years.)
Or not. I CAN do both. I have learned a lot about time management over the last few years, juggling college and homeschooling my four kids. We all have the same hours in a day and I have to figure out the right formula to fit in everything that is important to me, which does include writing, even when I don’t want to admit it.
